2007 Highlights

This third update to the e-Scorecard includes the 2007 Hospital Report indicators - data for most of this year's indicators comes from 2005/06 - the most recent full year of data for Acute Care, Complex Continuing Care, Emergency Department Care, and Rehabilitation hospitals.

Fourteen new indicators have been added, modified, or updated since the last release in the Hospital Report series:

  • 10 new indicators for the Acute Care sector;
  • 4 new indicators for the Emergency Department Care sector;
  • In addition, several indicators have been modified and undergone methodological refinements. Please see the technical summaries for more information.
Because the methodology used to calculate indicators is reviewed annually, and in some cases, changes are made to improve methodology over time, it is also important to exercise caution when examining year-to-year changes in indicator values. Click here for more information.

e-Scorecard 2007 Functionality Upgrade Summary

Organization selection "As Of" date drop-down:

  • A new drop-down has been added to the Organization Selection button.
  • The value selected in the drop-down affects which Organizations will be visible in the list.
  • The only Organizations that will show for the selected value in the drop down are the ones that were "active" at that point in time.

Organization Attribute Effective Dates:

  • Organization attributes have been improved by adding the ability to load time stamped values. This allows attributes such as Total Visits, Budget Size, etc. to contain different values for different years, which eliminates the need to create different attributes for "Total Visits 2003/04" and "Total Visits 2004/05".

Measure Selection Best Match / Exact Match Options:

  • Current implementation of the data element selection is such that it selects the "best match" time stamp for the selected element, based on "as of" date. The user sees all the elements available in the system on the left side of the screen.
  • When the element is selected for reporting (moved to the right side), the selected time stamp of that element will be set based on the "as of" date.
  • With the "best match" option, if the element has the time stamp matching the "as of" date, that timestamp will be selected. If the "as of" date is set to a certain year and a specific element does not have data for that year, but does have data for another year, that time stamp will be selected and displayed in the report
  • An "exact match" option has been added which when selected will only display on the left side the list of elements that have the timestamp matching exactly the selected "as of" date. This allows the user to choose only to see and use data elements applicable to the chosen cycle.
