Return X-Ray Rate for Ankle or Foot Injury Patients (<= 7 Days)
The proportion of patients (5 to 84 years) who are discharged from the emergency department with a diagnosis of ankle or foot injury but WITHOUT an ankle or foot x-ray who have a return visit for ankle or foot injury to any emergency department within 7 days after the initial emergency department discharge and who then receive an ankle or foot x-ray on the return visit.

The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16631: Are you encouraged to participate in decisions about your care? 16632: Do you decide what you are going to do each day? 16633: Do you feel you can express your feelings and opinions around here? 16635: Are you free to come and go as you please? 16639: Can you choose when to have your bath or shower? 16640: Are you free to make your own choices? 16643: Are your spiritual or religious needs met here? (Responses coded as 'positive' for each of the above questions were scored as Yes.) Responses coded as 'positive' to the following two questions were scored as 'no': 16636: Are you ever forced to do things that you don't want to do? 16637: Will staff get back at you if you say/do something they don't like?
Dignity
The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16622: Do the staff call you by name? 16624: Is your personal and physical privacy respected? 16630: Are you treated the way you want to be treated? (Responses coded as 'positive' for each of the above questions were scored as Yes.) Responses coded as 'positive' to the following questions were scored as 'no': 16627: Do the staff ever make you feel like you are a burden? 16628: Do the staff ever take advantage of you? 16629: Do you ever feel ignored by staff?
Food and Food Services
The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16594: Are there enough different kinds of food to choose from? 16595: Can you get the type of foods you like to eat? 16596: Is the taste of the food okay? 16597: Is the temperature of the food okay? 16598: Are you given the right amount of food? 16599: When you are hungry is food available? 16600: Do you get help to eat when you need it? 16601: Are you given enough time to eat? The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16644: Are you helped if you are in pain or uncomfortable? 16645: Can you talk to a doctor when you need to? 16646: Do you receive the treatments and medication you need? 16647: If you are not feeling well, do you get the medical help you need? 16648: Do you receive therapy if you need it? (Responses coded as 'positive' for each of the above questions were scored as Yes.)
Patient Activities
The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16603: Are you told about what activities are available? 16604: Do you participate in the activities here? 16605: Is there enough opportunity for you to do personal activities such as reading, watching TV, writing letters, visiting with family, etc.? Questions asked only of patients who participate at least "sometimes" in the activities at the hospital: 16606: Are there enough trips and outings? 16607: Is there enough entertainment? 16608: Are there enough games offered? 16609: Are there enough activities for you that use your mind? 16610: Are there enough activities for you on the unit? 16611: Are activities offered at the right time for you? 16612: Do you get the help you need with activities? (Responses coded as 'positive' for each of the above questions were scored as Yes). To be included in the calculation, a patient had to have answered 'sometimes' or 'always' to question 16604 'Do you participate in the activities here?'.

The indicator is calculated as the proportion of positive responses from patients to the following questions: 16585: Is this a comfortable place to live? 16586: Do you have enough privacy? 16587: Are your personal belongings safe here? 16589: Is your room how you would like it to be? (Responses coded as 'positive' for each of the above questions were scored as Yes.) For the following item, responses of "yes" or "sometimes" were scored as "positive": 16588: Is the residence clean and tidy? For the following questions only, a response of "no" was scored as positive: 16590: Is it possible that you could hurt yourself and a staff member would not know? 16591: Does the noise around here bother you? 16592: Does this place need fixing up? 16593: Does the smell around here bother you?
