Hospital Report 2003: Rehabilitation is a system level report that uses a balanced scorecard approach to report on the performance of Ontario hospitals that provide rehabilitation in designated rehabilitation beds. The balanced scorecard format follows the following four quadrants: System Integration and Change, Clinical Utilization and Outcomes, Client Perspectives, and Financial Performance and Condition.

This report focuses on one component of the rehabilitation continuum of care - publicly-funded designated adult inpatient rehabilitation beds. The objectives of this report are to present and describe the status of inpatient rehabilitation from a performance perspective with respect to quality, efficiency, accessibility, and financial performance.

Future reports will provide hospital-specific information. This report supports both quality improvement and accountability objectives for inpatient rehabilitation.

A Technical Summary describing the methodological approach used to develop the report is available.
