Hospital Report 2003: Emergency Department Care is the second Hospital Report on Emergency Department Care in Ontario and the first with indicator results calculated at a hospital-specific level. Performance indicators are presented for four key areas of Emergency Department activity - system integration and change, clinical utilization and outcomes, patient satisfaction, and financial performance and condition.

Together, the system level results included in the report and the hospital-specific results included in the insert to the report, describe how well Ontario Emergency Departments have performed on a range of process and outcome measures. The results provide a baseline for assessing the performance of Emergency Department care in the Province, and a foundation for quality improvement efforts at individual hospitals.

Technical Reports describing the methodological approaches used to develop this report are available.
