Ian McKillop holds the JW Graham Research Chair in Health Information Systems at the University of Waterloo where he helps lead UW's ideas FOR HEALTH informatics cluster, a group dedicated to promoting electronic innovations in data, evidence and application systems in medical and health settings. Dr McKillop's research explores how technology can be used to support the decision-making needs of clinical providers and healthcare managers, with a particular focus on methods for assessing, costing and funding acute care and primary care services. Ian is one of the original six researchers who led the development of the Hospital Report project in 1998. He currently serves as the Principal Investigator for the Finance Team and helps co-ordinate the e-tools portfolio of the Hospital Report Research Collaborative. Dr McKillop sits on Ontario's Hospital Funding Formula Committee and belongs to a number of other provincial and national committees with mandates related to information management and hospital funding. His work on hospital funding and financial reporting in healthcare has contributed to a variety of commissions and reports including Romanow and Clair (Quebec). Ian has served as a member of a community hospital board, is an Adjunct Scientist with the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES), and is an affiliated faculty member with the Dept of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto. |
